Griffin Wood Carving

In Steve's words.......

I've lived in the village of Langley Burrell for almost all of my life and I feel privileged to have been brought up in this area as I've always enjoyed working in the countryside. After leaving school I joined the family farm for many years until I decided to leave and persue a career in forestry. After setting up my own business, Griffin Forestry Contracting, I became a frequent visitor to Westonbirt arborteum where the festival of the tree takes place.

This led to an interest and hobby in carving which I taught myself through many years experience of the different types of wood and a great deal of experimenting and trial and error. I like to produce large pieces in situ, carved to save felling the tree, or from a variety of wood that I am able to source localy. I draw inspiration from my surroundings or from the pieces of wood, working with the shape, line and grain. Most of my pieces are one-offs, however I do take commissions for those special requirements.

I hope you enjoy looking through my website. You'll find plenty of pictures of my past work in the gallery and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Many thanks, Steve.
